- 摘要
- The purpose of this replication is to promote debate regarding the measures of innovation best able to inform our understanding of creative cities. This is done by demonstrating that the patents per capita measure used in a recent Cities article to assess the relative contribution of creative and scientific human capital to innovation is inherently biased. A partial replication using an alternative patent derived measure that does not confound the innovation rate with employment composition does detect a direct effect of creative workers (hipsters) on patenting that is masked in the original analysis using patents per capita.
