摘要

The article reviews chronicled roots of the three 18thcentury aesthetics of the Beautiful, the Sublime, and the Picturesque, which originated within a context of philosophical specific. Associations of the three aesthetics with landscape architecture and environmental art, both of which concerned with shaping the land and environment, are also examined in this article. Subsequently, the article includes discussions of how the landscape architecture cannoned by the three English aesthetics is combined with ecological design - modern landscape architectural design theme, primarily dominated by Ian McHarg in the 1960s.  Conclusively, the article critically discussed how landscape architecture should be shaped forward.
